Penguin Point Restaurants of Warsaw recently held a drawing for hot air balloon rides during Balloonfest '93, held over the July Fourth weekend. Winners were Hope Hart of Warsaw, who celebrated her 11th birthday July 3 with her balloon ride, Dave Snyder of Leesburg, and Alicia Best.
United Telephone honored Elsie Hoppas of Warsaw for 25 years of service at an anniversary dinner on July 12. Hoppas joined United in 1953 as a local operator at Warsaw, and is now general dial office administrator at the firm's general office.
Jimmy Collins and John Hall, both of Warsaw, each caught bass in Buttermilk Bay, Winona Lake, a few days ago. Jimmy's fish weighed a little over two pounds, while John's tipped the scales at three pounds plus. Both boys are 12 years old and ardent anglers.
Roger Williams, of Chicago, a native of Warsaw, was here today arriving from Peru, where he is making a number of tests for his Rajah oil burner for use with boilers of the Bryan Steam Corp. who expect to install the oil burner as part of the equipment of their boilers for heating homes and other buildings. Williams is the inventor of the Rajah oil burner and states he has perfected it so that now heating can be done with oil at from 20 to 25 per cent less than coal or any other fuel. The burner is also applied in furnaces as well as boilers.
