The Yankees won the championship of the Major American League this season in the Warsaw Little League. Team members were Ed Thomas, Micah Metzger, Jeff Phillips, Ryan Martin, Wil Coburn, Sam Wihebrink, Craig Thomas, Charles Lisenbee, Brent McDonald, Craig Harman, Brad Gold, Ben Grubbs, Jim Lisenbee and Trent Martin. Coaches were Cliff Thomas and Junior Martin.
Deborah Drudge, 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Drudge, of 1514 E. Center St., Warsaw, was the winner of a 10-speed bicycle during a recent contest at Ace Hardware, Warsaw.
Orlie C. Shaw Jr., 19, the younger son of Mr. and Mrs. O.C. Shaw, West Center St., Warsaw, is having advanced schooling instrument controls at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, Ill. He expects to finish about Aug. 21, when he will have a furlough at home.
Fifty men, members of the Tippecanoe Country Club, took part in a handicap golf tournament following the mid-week luncheon.
