    Tyson Scharf, son of Randall and Deborah Scharf, Warsaw, and Holly Ousley, daughter of Mike and Becky Ousley, Etna Green, were awarded bicycles from the Kiddies Day drawing at the Kosciusko County Fair.

July 31 1977

    Doug Jeffreys, 11, Rt. 8, Indian Village, Warsaw, was selected the 1977 Most Valuable Player in the Warsaw Major League All-Star game played July 15. Jeffreys went 2-for-2 as he powered two homers over the fence. These homers contributed to the National League 8-6 victory over the American League.

    Dr. D.C. Reber, 80-year-old retired dean of Manchester College, pedaled his bicycle 70 miles to pay visits to Rochester, Peru and Wabash, visiting court houses to secure information which he plans to use later in special lectures at the colleges. He made the 25-mile trip from North Manchester to Rochester in four hours.

    The most beautiful baby and the fattest baby in Peru, will be awarded prizes in a contest staged by a Peru theatre. A fat Warsaw woman wants to know why such contests are confined to babies.
