July 30 1989

    Kosciusko County crowned a new queen Saturday night to reign over the 1989 edition to the Kosciusko County 4-H Fair. Amy Lanoue is the new queen; Paula Smith is first runner-up; and Jennifer Brumbaugh is the second runner-up. Brumbaugh will compete in the Indiana State Fair Queen Contest in Indianapolis in August.

    In March 1973, Glenn and Margaret Lancaster began building the new Petro's Restaurant, at 935 N. Detroit St., Warsaw. And they are celebrating its grand opening today.

It was under construction for the past 16 months and Lancaster designed and supervised the restaurant's construction.

    Dorothy Pinkerton and John Coldeberg, both of Milford, were named as star campers at the final campfire of the annual county 4-H camp on McClure Lake, Bill Johnson, assistant county agent, reported.

Runners-up for the camper awards were Jeannine Ross, Sidney; Janet Carr, Claypool; Everett Rookstook, Beaver Dam; and Doyle Thompson, Warsaw.

    From the Devil's Backbone curve to the Palestine church the new A.L. Turner cement road has already been constructed. Work from the church to connect with the Mentone road will continue, then the workmen will return to the gap between the Backbone and the Anglin road as the last step in the work.
