Matt and Kim Horn, of Warsaw, will celebrate their birthdays on Independence Day. The brother and sister, ages 9 and 2, are the only children of John and Jackie Horn. Matt was born at 3:25 p.m. Seven years later, Kim came along on July 4, but just barely, at 11:55 p.m. A birthday party and picnic are planned by the family.
Lee Barrick, Rt. 7, sank a hole in one on the Rozella Ford golf course's No. 2 hole during Rozella's nine-hole ladies day.
The Fourth of July celebration at Akron, sponsored by the Akron Fair association, will feature a tractor-pulling contest in the afternoon, and a WLS barn dance and show, as well as fireworks, in the evening. Herschel Fenstermaker will be in charge of the tractor-pulling contest. Robert Tombaugh and Joe Baney are in charge of arrangements for the evening program.
The curfew bell at Winona Lake will be sounded at 10:45 p.m., beginning July 5th.
