Laura J. Sparzo has been named as the new principal of Lincoln Elementary School, Dr. Lee Harman, superintendent of Warsaw Community Schools, recently announced. Sparzo replaces David Whaley, who retired after being the principal of Lincoln Elementary for 21 years.
Erin Fitzpatrick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Fitzpatrick, Warsaw, an eighth-grader at Mentone School, won the State DAR essay contest, recently. Her essay, "The Life of Charles Cornwallis," was based on a military leader of the Battle of Yorktown and had to encompass 600 to 1,000 words.
Milicent Spilly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Tatter, Warsaw, is a graduate of the Class of 1956 of the School of Nursing of the Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
Approximately 600 drinking cups full of water, totaling 14 gallons, was consumed by attorneys and officials of the Kosciusko County courthouse Thursday, the warmest day of the week during the heat wave, Floyd Treesh, custodian of the courthouse, said.
