    A total of eight students from Caudill's Taekwondo Studio in Winona Lake recently competed in the World Championships in Little Rock, Ark. Winning at the event was Jonathon Hill placing first in sparring and second in forms; Mary Ann Hill, first in forms; and Cory Hill, third in both sparring and forms.

    Senior King Marvin Heckaman, Bourbon, and Senior Queen Josephine Ulmer, Etna Green, reigned over the Fourth of July festivities Tuesday at Etna Green. They had places of honor in the afternoon parade.

July 3 1953

    Mrs. Brice L. Phillipson, Winona Lake, celebrated the 50th anniversary of her commission in the Salvation Army Thursday. Although she and her husband, Brigadier Phillipson, who began his career three years earlier, retired officially in September 1947, they both maintain an active interest in the progress of the world-wide organization and work hard on the annual fund-raising drives in this community.

    Rev. S.A. Wells, pastor of the Rochester United Brethren Church, was elected president of the convention and institute of the United Brethren religious denominational organization for the year 1928 at its regular meeting held at Oakwood Park, Lake Wawasee.
