    MENTONE - Charles E. Mills has accepted a two-year contract as principal of Tippecanoe Valley High School.

Mills has been with the Central Noble School District, Albion, since 1967. He was principal there three years.

    Times-Union staff reporter-photographer Walt Rogers was dispatched to the county jail earlier this week on a photo assignment when it was learned that one of the inmates, recently sentenced to a five-year term, was going to repeat wedding vows with his girl friend before being transported to the state institution. Walt, prepared to snap a picture of the unusual jailhouse wedding, found himself in an equally familiar role when he arrived at the century old bastille. The ceremony was slated to be performed by Warsaw Mayor H. Dale Tucker, However, Mayor Tucker was detained and unable to perform the service. But alas, Rogers, an ordained minister, came to the rescue, performed the wedding ceremony for the anxious couple - then picked up his camera and completed his original assignment.

    Indiana archers won honors Sunday at an invitational roving field tournament at Van Wert, Ohio.

John King, Winona Lake, placed first in the men's bowman division, and Mrs. Lillian Kimes, Columbia City, triumphed in the women's expert bowman division.

    The Chapman Lake Threshing Ring began threshing yesterday at the farm of William Shroyer. Yield of 38 bushels of good quality wheat to the acre was reported.
