    Today marks the beginning of the end for a well-known Warsaw landmark.

An auction for the contents of the Masonic Temple will begin at 10 a.m. The temple, which is owned by and located next to the Warsaw Community Library, will be torn down to make room for the library's expansion project.

July 27 1981

    Marine Cpl. Brent A. Rice, son of Mr. and Mrs. Basil A. Rice, Pierceton, has been promoted to his present rank while serving with the 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

A 1979 graduate of Whitko High School, South Whitley, he joined the Marine Corps in October 1978. His wife, Branda, is the daughter of Roy G. and Margaret Tennant, Pierceton.

    Have you even seen a delphinium plant that measures 5 feet from the ground to the top of the flower? We hadn't either, but Mrs. A.L. Price, Silver Lake, is the proud gardener who has one in bloom in her yard. The flower stem measures 35 inches and the blooms are light blue and lavender with white stamens. We understand that the average is 3 feet from ground to flower top.

    The Winona town board by a two-to-one vote has approved the opening of the public bathing beach at Winona Lake on Sundays between the hours of 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., it was learned today.

A few adventurous bathers took advantage of the permission to indulge in a Sunday swim.
