    Several area youth are spending the summer touring with the Bluecoast Drum and Bugle Corps.

The group includes Jodi Fulkerson, cymbals; Celeste Cooning and Jackie Whitesell, guard; Jason Couch and Lane Armey, tenor drums; and Jeremy Miller, snare drum.

    Winners of the Park Department's tennis tournaments were: Dusty Stamper, boys beginners; Leon Brenneman, intermediate; Emily Holbrook, girls beginners; and Missy Freeman, girls advanced.

July 27 1955

    Larry Nellans, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Nellans, of Mentone, was presented with the Eagle Scout award at the campfire meeting held at Pioneer Trails Boys Scout Camp. Larry is a member of the camp staff this year, and will be one of the group of boys making the trip to Philmont Ranch in New Mexico during the month of August.

    The 60-ton monster whale advertised to arrive early today from Lima, Ohio, and to be on exhibit failed to arrive early this afternoon but was expected any hour.

The delay was explained when it was learned that Ben Phillipson had borrowed the exaggerated sea-going cat-fish and was using it for bait off his pier at Winona Lake. "You gotta be careful of them fish and game wardens. I ain't taking any chances on small fish," Benny said.
