    Pvt. 1st Class John W. Drudge has been decorated with the Army Achievement Medal at Fort Campbell, Ky.

He is an infantryman with the 327th Infantry. Drudge is the son of Alma G. and Rex J. Drudge, Mentone. The private is a 1986 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School, Mentone.

    The Kosko Gun Club recently held its annual picnic and league awards day honoring members and their families. High gun honors for the season went to Dean Broske for the skeet shooting division and Sonny Nellans for trap shooting. Winners in the awards day competition were Andy Arnold in skeet, Rod Metzger in trap, Ed Kinsey and Ron Roberts tied for high overall shooting and the high ladies award was won by Rose Roberts.

    E.P. Smith, principal of the Bourbon schools, has announced that five new teachers have been added to the faculty.

Christine Hubbell will teach English and Latin, Edward L. Sell will teach industrial arts and Curtis E. Clemons will teach social studies and physical education. Helen Warring will take over the fourth grade and Broma B. Boling will teach the first and second grades.

    "Panko" McConnell, of this city, speed demon, will pilot his special 16 overhead valve special Ford at the dirt track races at Fort Wayne on Sunday. "I'm after the big jack and going to step on it all the way," he states. He claims to have done 84 miles on a dirt straightaway recently when he had eight overhead valves. Two weeks ago he equipped his car with 16 overhead valves and believes his car is now capable of 90 to 100 miles.
