MENTONE - Mentone has been bulging at the seams with excitement for the past few days as unique and state-of-the-art aircraft from all over the world fly in for the 34th annual Popular Rotorcraft Association convention.
Silver Lake residents Jane and David Kneller recently returned from a six-day award trip to Hawaii. The Knellers won the Hawaiian vacation from Beeline Fashions Inc. as their award for expanding and developing the company's field sales organization.
When Raymond Cole was operating a dragline for digging the foundation for a new house on the John Camden farm near Pleasant Grove he found a mound with Indian arrows, tomahawks and a few human bones in it. The bones weren't discovered in time to locate enough of them to make a complete skeleton to prove whether it was an Indian or a paleface but from the weapons the conclusion was obvious.
A "$200,000 golf tournament," something novel in the way of golf, was participated in by the lady members of the Tippecanoe Lake Country Club at their weekly golf luncheon. Pseudo money was used in betting on the holes. Jean Naber, of Tippecanoe Lake, received first prize, Mrs. Zustin Zimmer, Warsaw, second, and Betty Zimmer, city, consolation. There were 23 entrants in the tournament.
