July 26 1995

    Adam Booher and William Eloph, both of the Tiger Wrestling Club, were crowned national champions at the AAU/USA Grand National Wrestling Championships in Tulsa, Okla., this weekend.

Booher captured the junior 132 freestyle division while Eloph won the junior 132 Greco Roman division. It marks the second straight year that Eloph has won a national title.

    It's a rare occasion when two youngsters residing in the same county are selected as finalists in a baby beauty pageant. But it's not so unusual to two Kosciusko County families.

Alissa Dawn Mulldune, the 4-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David (Laura) Mulldune, Warsaw, and Holly Leigh Rose, the 3-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry (Diana) Rose, Pierceton, were selected finalists for the Miss Baby Indiana Pageant in May.

July 26 1955

    Gregory Berry, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Berry, Warsaw, has completed a course in Russian at the Navy school in Washington, D.C., receiving his diploma July 1.

Greg's rating is now communications technician seaman. He led his class which included several college men and wound up with an A in the oral exam, B plus in written tests.

July 26 1930

    The old wooden bridge across the canal on Smith Street is being removed, and the canal at this point is to be filled. Brick from the old Rigdon building will be placed in the canal and when filled, the roadway will be graveled and a guardrail placed on each side of the street.

The Smith Street bridge is one of the oldest bridges in this part of the state and for a number of years has been regarded as unsafe for heavy traffic.
