    Phyllis M. Swick, postmaster of Pierceton Post Office, was presented a service award and retirement letter from Ralph Harrison, post office operations manager of Fort Wayne, on July 3.

She was sworn in as postmaster March 1, 1985. She began her post career Feb. 6, 1971, at Pierceton as PTF clerk and worked part time at the Warsaw Post Office for five years.

    Mrs. Virgil (Lucille) McCleary, 68, of Ford Lane, Warsaw, retired last week after working in the county treasurer's office for the past 18 years.

July 25 1955

    Sue Henderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Henderson, Pierceton, is an oboist in the orchestra for the Fort Wayne music festival theatre production of "Bitter Sweet" in Franke Park.

An accomplished musician, she is organist for the Presbyterian Church in Pierceton. A senior in high school next fall, she is editor of the yearbook and president of the Future Teachers of America chapter.

75 Years Ago

July 25 1930

    Neighbors and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bigbee, of six miles east of Warsaw, gathered at the Bigbee home Tuesday evening and gave them an old-fashioned belling. Mr. and Mrs. Bigbee were just recently married and came to this vicinity from Indianapolis. After much merriment, refreshments of ice cream, cake, candy and cigars were served. All departed at a late hour wishing the couple much happiness in their new home.
