    Edith Nissen, a resident of Grace Village Health Care in Winona Lake, celebrates her 104th birthday July 28.

Nissen was born and raised in Chicago and moved to Grace Village in 1977.

    The first- and second-place winners of the Warsaw Parks Department's tennis tourney are Rob Zink, boys beginners winner; Martha Kerchenfaut, girls beginners winner; Trent Wuchter, boys beginners runner-up; Shantel Newton, runner-up in girls intermediate/advanced; Dusty Stamper, runner-up in boys intermediate/advanced; Leon Brenneman, winner of boys intermediate/advanced; Lisa Boyer, winner of girls intermediate/advanced; and Angie Koher, runner-up in girls beginners.


50 Years Ago

July 24 1956

    A string of 10 fish were landed by Mentone anglers, Max Nellans and son Robert, 13, while big faming in the Atlantic off Fort Lauderdale, Fla., early this month. The catch included dolphin, bonito, barracuda and blue runner.

July 24 1931

    Six pledges were made members of the Tri Kappa sorority last evening. A meeting was held at the home of Ethelyn Ker, East Center Street, at which the following young ladies were initiated into the organization: Jean Widaman, Janet Bash, Marjorie Bolinger, Mary Bonner, Agnes Janes Duncan and Virginia Hendrick.
