Can you imagine how it would feel to be where the ground is white with snow with a temperature of 28 degrees?

That's the way it was where the Roy Burgners, of Bourbon, spent an evening recently while on a 6,303-mile trip through the scenic west. Another item of interest, gleaned from the report of their trip, was that Mrs. Burgner shook hands with a bear. The Bourbon correspondent wonders if she shook hands with the bear, or shook - period?

NORTH MANCHESTER - A 5-foot blue racer broke up a quiet siesta among 14 carpenters, and came near shattering the nerves of the whole bunch. Paul Grist and his crew of carpenters were working at the C.O. Williams farm, a couple of miles east of Speicherville. The men had eaten their dinners, and were taking a brief rest under some evergreen trees in the yard. Suddenly a blue racer snake appeared from somewhere, and before anybody could realize what was happening it had dragged half of its body across William Burkhart's neck. Lunging from Burkhart the snake tangled itself around Ernest Felabom's legs, and being kicked from there landed on Fred Kissinger and Emory Schock. The snake escaped.
