    Deb Bunt, of North Webster, recently was crowned first runner-up in the Mrs. Indiana America Pageant held in Indianapolis.

She also won the title of Miss Photogenic, beating out 31 other contestants.

July 23 1979

    The first Warsaw Pioneer Days Queen in the long history of the annual event was crowned Friday evening on the courthouse lawn.

Laurie Freer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freer, of 1604 N. Walnut St., Warsaw, will reign over the remaining festivities. Runner-up in the penny-a-vote contest, sponsored by Delta Theta Tau, was Jackie Weirick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Weirick, Warsaw.

July 23 1954

    The men who grew the best beards for the Warsaw Centennial is Thomas Phillips, best mustache; Marshall Rickel, best chin whiskers and mustache; Robert C. Wilson, grand champion, best full beard; Bernard Minear, best sideburn combination; Charles Longenecker, best costume and beard; and John Shively, best partial-full beard.

July 23 1929

    B.F. Ringle, proprietor of the Ringle Furniture Store, has just received what is known as the "Victory Medal" from the War Department. This is a medal awarded by the department only to soldiers serving overseas during the World War. The bronze medal, attached to badge ribbon and fastener, is appropriately inscribed.
