    Pastors Irv Lindemuth and Tom Ebert congratulated Don McCormick, winner of a Sony AM/FM cassette and compact disc player. McCormick's name was chosen from more than 1,000 entries in the drawing at the Bethany Fellowship booth, at the Kosciusko County Fair last week.


25 Years Ago

July 23 1980

    Tom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Lemler, was given the Hoosier Farmer award at a recent Future Farmers of America 51st state convention. About 2 percent of all members receive this coveted award, yearly. His brother Tim was elected district two president.


50 Years Ago

July 23 1955

    Sandra Polk, of Burket, and Dorothy Thompson, of Claypool, gained honors in the Fort Wayne district 4-H judging and demonstration contest held at Wabash.

Polk placed third high in the judging contest from a group of 25 contestants. Thompson won the special demonstration contest in baking with her demonstration titled "Double Quick Cherry Pink." There were six entries in this event.

75 Years Ago

July 23 1930

    The shorts for men have made their appearance on the streets of Warsaw. A young man about 25 years of age appeared wearing "shorties" and with stockings rolled below his knees. He attracted considerable attention as this is the first chance Warsaw has had to "lamp" anything like this. Young men of Warsaw, exponents of the latest fashion, may adopt the garb soon - and maybe not.
