    The postal career of a local woman was launched seven years ago, and in less than two weeks, she will officially become the new Claypool postmaster.

Mrs. David L. (Maria) Henderson, 42, Warsaw, recently was appointed postmaster of the Claypool Post Office by the Postmaster General in Washington, D.C. Henderson replaces Alton Bouse, who retired June 27 after 15 years on the job.

    Buzz right down to the summer savin' bee at Hoffer's Super Market with specials including: Large jar of Manor House instant coffee, $1; 1 pound box of Morton's iodized salt, 8 cents; four pounds of hamburger for $1; and 45 cents for a quart jar of Miracle Whip salad dressing.

July 20 1930

    A large insect, resembling in many respects what is commonly called an electric light bug, was caught and caged by Clayton Murphy, little 4-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Murphy of Atwood. The insect has large wings and unusually long feelers. The bug was examined by many persons who were unable to name it.
