    Nicole L. Hine has been selected for membership in the American Musical Ambassadors Band. This select concert band, composed of outstanding high school students from all over the United States, is touring several European countries for three weeks this month.

Nicole, the daughter of Peter R. and Linda S. Hine, is a member of the Whitko High School Band, South Whitley, directed by Mike Clark.

    Leta Stickler and Deborah Calhoun, sophomores at Ball State University in Muncie, will study this fall at Ball State's London Centre in London, England.

Leta, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Stickler, of Route 1, Pierceton is majoring in criminal justice and social work, and Deborah, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Calhoun of Route 1, Warsaw, is a nursing major. Both girls are 1974 graduates of Whitko High School.

    Howard J. Lightfoot, state police technician at the Ligonier post and a former resident of Warsaw, was among 11 men and women who graduated from a chemical test course at Northwestern University in Evansville, Ill.

Officer Lightfoot is a former turnkey at Kosciusko County jail.

    A big rattle snake, measuring 62 inches, was killed by Glenn Melick in the vicinity of the former W.H. Cook Mill on Center Lake.
