    Warsaw's Jamie Bowers is continuing a fine tradition for the Tiger baseball program.

The recent WCHS graduate has been selected to play in the 20th annual Mizuno/Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Series. Bowers becomes the fifth player from coach Jim Dermondy's successful program to be tabbed as an All-Star. Preceding Bowers as All-Star participants were Mike White (1983), Mike Purcell (1985), Pal Wiley (1988) and Brad Szymanski (1989).

    Mrs. Reub (Helen) Williams, Warsaw, and Homer Shoop, North Webster, were first-place winners when the Warsaw Duplicate Bridge Club held its 16th annual Open Pairs Club Championship recently in the Counting House Bank.

July 2 1954

    Serita Jo Clark, 10-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Clark, of west of Silver Lake, was chosen champion, and Nancy Albert, 13-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Albert, Leesburg, reserve champion at the junior demonstration contest for 4-H girls held at the women's building of the fairgrounds, it was announced by Mrs. Ruth Snellenberger, county 4-H agent for girls' work.

July 2 1929

    Postmaster Orville B. Kilmer announced today that the 2-cent stamps commemorating the golden jubilee of the invention of the electric light by Thomas Edison had been placed on sale Tuesday morning. The Sullivan Expedition commemorative stamps of the same denomination were placed on sale at the same time.
