    Chad King won the local round of the third annual Marsh Super Sacker contest, held at Marsh Supermarket.

The contest, a Marsh Supermarkets' company wide event, involves sacking a set number of grocery items. Points are given for speed of sacking, effective use of the bag, even weight between sacks, number of sacks used and an overall attitude and style during sacking. King has been sacking groceries for one year. He received two shares of Marsh stock as a prize.

July 19 1975

    During a recent Kosciusko County 4-H tractor operators' contest, four local youths won the right to participate in a regional contest consisting of eight counties in area 10 of 4-H clubs. Winners are Mark Montel, first in the junior division; Terry Phillips, first in the senior division; Brent Messmore, second in junior; and Eric Decker, second in senior. First-place winners received a trophy and second-place winners a blue ribbon.

July 19 1950

    Sandra Emerick placed second in the open class at the Lafayette horse show. She rode her three-gaited mare, "Honey Genius," and bested several of the top trainers of Indiana who were competing. There were 14 horses in the field.

July 19 1925

    George "Soda" Seward, son of Fred Seward, and Donald Beebe, both of Warsaw, attending the summer army training camp at Fort Harrison, Indianapolis, have written of the recent promotion of Seward to be a corporal. They report having an excellent time and good grub.
