Two Winona Lake young women, students at the summer school, were treated to a surprise "joy ride" on the Warsaw fire truck when an alarm came in from Winona at 9:30 Wednesday night. The young women, said to be Dorothy Yeager and Kathleen Harter, were visiting with truck drivers Lawrence Stokes and Linc Hay when the alarm sounded. The drivers jumped on, sounded the siren and said, "Let's go," and away they went.

Arriving at Winona Lake it was found that the call was a false alarm. The photographic school was making a demonstration of flashlight power outside of the school building. Fourteen large sticks, 15 inches high, were burning, and to persons residing on King's Highway, who turned in the alarm, it appeared like a big fire.
