July 15 1994

    Marina Olivo was selected eighth-grade artist at Edgewood Middle School for 1994. The student recognition program was begun four years ago to promote excellence in art and to expand the student art gallery. Marina's watercolor painting will join the others in the student gallery, located near the school office.


25 Years Ago

July 15 1979

    In 1942 Henry Holderman joined the maintenance staff at the present Jefferson Elementary building (then known as East Wayne). Some 35 years later, at the age of 80, he has retired from the maintenance department of Warsaw Community Schools.

Holderman has left his mark in every building in the corporation. Following his nine years at Jefferson Elementary, in 1953, he became custodian at Washington Elementary. In 1958, he became general maintenance and handy-man for the school system and held that position until his retirement.

50 Years Ago

July 15 1954

    Stanley Arnolt, of Winona Lake, placed third in two events, one 75 mile and one 200 mile, at an international sports car race at the air force base at Omaha, Neb., over the weekend. Arnolt reported that he had several spins in the 200-mile race. Mrs. Arnolt and Stanley Jr. accompanied him.


75 Years Ago

July 15 1929

    Marshall Kirk has received the Kosciusko County scholarship for the John Herron Art Institute at Indianapolis. This scholarship is good for one year.
