Four local men have been selected as Outstanding Young Men of America for 1989. Their complete biographies will appear in the annual awards publication, "Outstanding Young Men of America."
Ron Austin, owner of the Claypool Service Center, was the recent winner of a 19-inch color television set awarded by Dick Witt, owner of Warsaw Automotive Supply. The automotive sales outlet held a dealer sales promotion in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of NAPA from 1925-75. Service stations and independent repair garages displaying the NAPA gold hat sign were in competition.
Midshipman Ernest T. Howard, of the U.S. naval reserve, is aboard the USS St. Paul. Howard, a resident of 812 E. Main St., Warsaw, and a student at Pennsylvania State College, is one of 977 college students from 24 colleges and universities throughout the nation who are participating in the Pacific division of the annual naval reserve officers training corps senior-sophomore summer cruise this year. During the cruise, he will have an opportunity to visit the Hawaiian Islands.
Virginia Ruse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ruse, of East Center Street, will arrive in Warsaw on Aug. 1 to spend the month with her parents. During the past winter Ruse studied music at the New York Conservatory of Affiliated Art. She also has a class of pupils.
