Activities surrounding the annual Kosciusko County BalloonFest proved to be fun for area youth who participated in the Kids of Steel Triathlon.
Thirty-seven youth ages 6 to 14 took part in the triathlon, which included swimming, biking and running. Finishing first place were: Joel Henline, Katy Reiff, Todd Canaday, Megan Medlock, Drew Dalton and Nick Debatty.

Eight area youths were named winners of the Kosciusko County 4-H Tractor Driving Contest at the local fairgrounds.
Winners of the senior division include - Brian Wood, Claypool, first place; Brent Montel, Warsaw, second; Brent Roberts, Warsaw, third; and Lowell Warner, Pierceton, fourth. Junior division winners are Steve Lynch, Claypool, first place; Rod Keirn, Claypool, second; Randy Beer, Milford, third; and Dennis Boggs, Warsaw, fourth.

A neighborly crew of farmers moved, raked and baled 1,600 bales of hay for Clinton Whitney, Warsaw, who is convalescing from recent surgery.
Those helping were: Floyd Hollar, Charles Hollar, Charles Murphy, Robert Carnes, Chauncey Emmons, Floyd Thomas, James Sellers, Jay Whitney, Brent Julian, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hinkle and grandson, Steve, Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Evan, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Long and children, Linda and Larry, and Dorothy Lewis.

Complaint was made to the council that awnings in front of stores of Warsaw are too low. One man ran into one and had a headache for two weeks, it was said.
Police Chief Frank Lucas was instructed to see that all awnings are 7-1/2 feet from the walk, as required by city ordinance.
