    Pierceton's Amber Michelle Rohlfing was named fair queen during ceremonies Saturday afternoon at the Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair.

Rohlfing, 18, is the daughter of Jim and Cathy Scott, Pierceton, and Bob Rohlfing, Kalamazoo, Mich.

    Navy Personnelman First Class Richard E. Clouse, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thurlo E. Clouse, of 507 N. Elm St., Nappanee, provided escort service for a Presidential submarine cruise.

His ship, the destroyer USS Arthur W. Radford, provided security services off Cape Canaveral as President Carter made an indoctrination cruise aboard the nuclear submarine USS Los Angeles on Memorial Day weekend.

    JoAnne Huffman, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Park Huffman, of South Whitley and Winona Lake, is one of 50 high school students from 42 states accepted for the Northwestern University institute for high school journalists from more than 600 applicants. Her parents accompanied her to the Northwestern campus at Evanston, Ill., where she will take the course in journalism for five weeks. JoAnne was co-editor of the Broadcast, South Whitley High School newspaper, and will be a senior in high school this fall.

    Headed by Fire Chief Charles B. Moon, Harold Shepler, elected delegate, and Mel Randels and Kenneth Freeman, Warsaw city firemen, left at 4 o'clock this morning to attend the Indiana Firemen's state convention at Indianapolis.

Addresses and demonstrations of value to fire fighters will be staged at the convention.
