    Amber Zoellner, who will be in first grade at South Whitley Elementary School, recently was awarded first place in Indiana in the National Junior Duck Stamp contest.

Amber is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Zoellner.

July 12 1980

    Navy Gunner's Mate 3rd Class Timothy B. Miller, son of Carolyn Miller, Claypool, has completed an advanced gunner's mate course.

The 15-week course was conducted at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. It was designed to provide gunner's mates with a working knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance for the 5-inch, 54-caliber gun.

July 12 1955

    Serita Jo Clark, 11-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Clark, of Seward Township, was named grand champion in the junior home economics demonstration contest for the second consecutive year, for her demonstration titled "Peanut Butter Krinkles."

Avalee Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Martin, of Winona Lake, was named reserve champion for her demonstration on what to put in a first aid kit.

    The Mesdames Frank Ringle and W.S. Feekner of Winona Lake were hostesses at the Tippecanoe Ladies luncheon bridge on Tuesday afternoon. Nine tables of bridge progressed, the membership prizes going to Mrs. E.W. Gresso of Warsaw and Mrs. Charles R. Brittsan of Milford.
