The 4-H king and queen were crowned Friday at the 76th annual Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair. Laurie Bailey was crowned queen and Danny Knepper, king. Shawn Steiner was named princess and Norman Hubler, prince.
Honesty has been a way of life for the Jim Coleman family, 110 N. Columbia St., and 11-year-old daughter Darla has obviously learned well. Seems that Darla recently visited her neighbors (the Albert Tuckers) where a garage sale was in progress. The youngster spied an old billfold/purse which she purchased from Mrs. Tucker for nickel. While admiring her bargain later, Darla found the purse contained $58. Without hesitation and on her own, Darla returned the money to a joyous and tearful Mrs. Tucker, who promptly rewarded the youngster for her honesty.
Mrs. Floyd Metzler, Nappanee, now a grandmother, received a bachelor of science degree in the field of elementary education at Manchester College last week. She completed her work by attending summer sessions and also Saturday classes during the winter term for the past few years. Metzler resumed her teaching career in 1942 after an absence of 23 years. She started teaching in 1917. She reared four children and has two grandchildren. Her husband is a baker in Nappanee.
