July 12 1994

    Jason Shepherd, 15, son of Phyllis Shepherd of Claypool, showed the grand champion steer for the second year in a row at the Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair.

The Grand Champion Heifer was shown by Renee Deatsman, Leesburg. She is the daughter of Max and Gina Deatsman.

July 12 1979

    BOURBON - Kandi Apple, of Bourbon Assembly No. 40, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, was elected Grand Charity at the 39th "Magical Moments" Grand Assembly held June 28 through July 1 at Evansville. Apple is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Apple, of Etna Green.

July 12 1954

    Marvin Mahoney, 19, graduated with honors from the navy hospitalman's school at San Diego on June 17. As top ranking student, he was permitted to choose the West Coast hospital he preferred assignment to.

Marvin picked the one at Vallejo Mare Island, Calif. A member of the drum and bugle corps at the San Diego base, he could have gone on in music but wanted medical training more.

July 12 1929

    Tommy Peterson was host to a number of boy friends Friday evening at a theater party followed by refreshments at the Washington Candy Kitchen, it being his ninth birthday anniversary. Those present were Jack Thomas, Jerry Jerard, Glen Wiltrout, Dick Hudson, Dale Miner, Bobby Bright and Tommy Peterson.
