    MENTONE - Dr. Wymond Wilson will be honored at a reception from 2 to 5 p.m. this Saturday (July 13) at the Mentone United Methodist Church.

Wilson, who has been a general practitioner in Mentone for nearly 37 years, retired on July 1.

July 11 1976

    The Triton High School Marching Trojans won first place in "Class B" competition at the recent Mermaid Festival. "Class B" includes bands from schools having an enrollment of 600 or less. All bands were judged on a four-minute show performed prior to the parade. In addition to the trophy, the band was awarded a check for $500. Sandy Coplen and Amy Sharkey are drum majorettes and Donna Person is the band director.

July 11 1951

    Another Warsaw golf player, Glenn Smith, has joined the hole-in-one club. Last Saturday it was Fred Irwin, of Warsaw, who turned the trick on a 215-yard par three hole. Yesterday the honor came to Smith on a 160-yard par three hole. Smith was playing with Robert Kesler and D.G. Murphy, also of Warsaw, at Lake Wawasee.

    Two trees of Ox Blood sweet cherries owned by O.E. Phillips, 827 E. Main St., have a bumper crop, the largest ever seen on any tree in Kosciusko County.

The trees are a mass of fruit from the ground to the top, having between 30 and 40 cherries to each foot of the branches.
