SILVER LAKE - Winners of the 16th annual Silver Lake Days Festival parade were recently honored.
There was quite a feast at the home of Marion Groves, 2605 William Drive, Winona Lake recently, thanks in part to five nice largemouth bass. Groves caught the bass in a four-hour time span while fishing from the shore of Center Lake with a rubber worm. He was trying to get his day's limit of six, but had four others shake their way off his hook.
Don Truex, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Truex, of North Bay Drive, and Bob Armstrong, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Armstrong, of Country Club Drive, are spending today and tomorrow in Mishawaka on a pre-camporee.
"Herbert Hoover" and "Al Smith," two camel shaped pets about the size of a bird dog, a cross between the goat and deer families, are the odd-shapen affectionate pets recently purchased by Ed Heacock, well-known local livestock dealer. They are attracting much attention at the Heacock barn located near the city bathing beach. The four-week-old youngsters have already adopted Ed as their master and protector and follow him around like Mary's little lamb.
