    Mrs. Robert Westfall, who is known for raising miniature horses, had quite a surprise recently. Normally, the horses will give birth to one or two ponies. However, the Westfalls wound up with four miniature horses, a feat considered rare among horse breeders.

    It's summertime and many a mother makes plans for her children to give the family garage its annual clean-up. That's precisely what Danny Shepherd, 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Shepherd, 812 E. Main St., was doing when he discovered an antique.

In the bottom of an old truck, that was originally in the basement of their house, he found an 1869 calendar, which is in remarkably good condition.

    Barbara Kissinger, Silver Lake, and Gene Likens, Monroe Township, have emerged from a county 4-H contest as the healthiest club members in the county.

Barbara, who captured first place in competition with 52 other girls, scored 99.5 health points out of a possible 100. Gene scored 98.8 points to top a field of 25 boys.

    Twenty-seven consecutive innings without scoring a single run is the record of the Mentone baseball club which has been hit by the old "jinx" in the past three games. Watch out for them when they start again.
