    Marine Lance Cpl. Wesley Koontz, son of Larry and Gracie Koontz of Bourbon, recently received a certificate of appreciation.

Koontz was cited for superior performance of duty while assigned with Marine Wing Support Squadron 371, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Ariz.

    Familiar to many of her colleagues as a quiet, yet hard-working and efficient worker, Catherine Gonya, a second deputy in the Kosciusko County auditor's office, retired last week following 10-1/2 years of public service.

During the first 1-1/2 years she worked for a former county treasurer, William Ellis, and for the past nine years with former Auditor Lawrence Butts and current Auditor Jean Northenor.

    Eugene Brumfield, a member of the Warsaw Police Force, today went to Indianapolis to attend a one-week school in combating drunken driving by chemical tests.

Brumfield will be one of 49 Indiana officers and six policemen from Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania attending the school, the staff of which will be headed by Dr. Rolla N. Hager, of Indianapolis, inventor of the "drunkometer," a breath method to determine alcoholic concentration in the human blood stream.
