    U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar greeted nearly 600 high school juniors and 150 adults at his 18th annual symposium for Tomorrow's Leaders Dec. 3 in Indianapolis.

Attending the symposium were Katy Phoun and Amanda Beer, both of Wawasee; Christopher Presley, Warsaw; Jason Reece and Robert Price, Triton; and Mike and Christina Wheeler and Larry and Jill Hunter, Tippecanoe Valley.

    FORT KNOX, Ky. - Pvt. Larry D. Richards, son of Mr. and Mrs. David A. Richards, North Webster, recently completed training as an armor reconnaissance specialist at the U.S. Army Armor School, Fort Wayne.

The armor reconnaissance specialist course consists of weapons training, including mines and demolitions, maintenance of armor vehicles, map reading, communications and artillery adjustments.

    Mary Jane Carpenter is the new president of Girl Scout Troop 16 whose activities during the holiday season included the sale of 1955 calendars and TB Christmas seals, making decorations and favors and participating in the caroling program.

Other new officers of the troop, sponsored by the Philalethis Literary Society, are Katherine Jackson, vice president; Tammy Naglar, secretary; Sharon Sauer, treasurer; Sharon Pearl, reporter; and Kathy Kingston, Juliette Low secretary. Leaders are Mrs. Edward Sauer and Mrs. Richard Hamman.

    Mary Middleton, of Warsaw, has received a letter from her son, Leonard Middleton, of Los Angeles, Calif., in which the latter states that church services are now being held there to pray for rain.
