Apparently Harold Hill, city street employee, believes city council members should be given a bit of preferential treatment, at least when it comes to clearing the snow away. During a recent snowfall, Hill not only cleared the street in front of council member Mac Silveus' house, but almost cleared away the house. He says the clutch on the grader stuck and it was all an accident.
Firemen battled near zero temperatures and a stubborn blaze that completely gutted the quarter-block Boice Building at the intersection of Center and Indiana streets in downtown Warsaw early today. It was the third major fire in the greater Warsaw area in the past month. The first major fire was Johnson Allied Building Center warehouses and the second was LRC Products (Laminated Rafters).
Another outstanding independent basketball attraction has been scheduled for next Monday night when the famous All-American Red Heads appear in the Pierceton High School gym against the Pierceton American Legion squad.
Two and 3-inch ice which covers Center Lake afforded much sport to venturesome boys who today were skating around the edges of the lake. The surface is reported excellent for skating.
