    Jill Sommers, Silver Lake, placed second in the Indiana Angus Association Junior Heifer Award Program. The junior Angus members were honored at the state association annual banquet in Indianapolis.

    Michelle Marner, 9-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Marner, Rt. 8, Warsaw, and a fourth-grader at Jefferson School, has a 12-by-18-inch picture on its way to Tokyo, where it will be entered in the International Children's Art Exhibition to be held in Japan during March 1975. The theme of her picture, "Autumn In Indiana," was done in batik coloring.

January 5 1950

    Kosciusko County's first twins of the new year are reported doing "just fine" today by attendants at the McDonald Hospital. The twin brothers were born on New Year's Day to Mr. and Mrs. Harley Mellott in their Etna Green home. They were later taken to the hospital for further care.

January 5 1925

    Frightened at an unknown object, a horse belonging to John Holbrook, which was standing near the county jail, ran away, and in going between a tree and a porch near the Joe Teghtmeyer residence, Smith Street, broke loose from a sleigh and wound up at its barn, uninjured.
