James Heaton and Norma Anglin have been giving of themselves for decades, but on Wednesday night, they were on the receiving end of Warsaw's finest civic honor.
John "Bud" Shear, Rt. 1, Pierceton, who has spent the past 30 years in the automotive servicing field, has been appointed service manager of Smith Ford-Lincoln-Mercury, Inc., 527 E. Winona Ave., Warsaw, according to Robert Smith, president of the auto agency.
Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Lucier, King's Highway, Winona Lake, left Wednesday for Washington, D.C., to attend the inauguration of Gen. Dwight Eisenhower as President of the United States. They are long time friends of Gen. and Mrs. Eisenhower. When the Eisenhower campaign train stopped in this city, Mrs. Lucier joined them and traveled with them a short time.
NORTH MANCHESTER - Mrs. J.W. Strauss, of this city, is the proud possessor of a letter written by President Abraham Lincoln to her father William Smith. The letter which is in Lincoln's handwriting is as follows: Executive Mansion, Washington, Feb. 23, 1864. Master Willie Smith: Your friend, Leroy C. Driggs, tells me you are a very earnest friend of mine, for which please allow me to thank you. You and those of your age are to take charge of this country when we older ones shall have gone; and I am glad to learn that you already take so lively an interest in what just now so deeply concerns us.
