    Word has it that the folks at the Atwood post office have a new pet. According to one woman, somebody pushed a little duckling through one of the mail slots. Postal workers have been caring for the little water fowl.

One worker remarked that they received the duck without proper postage.

    James Packat, Danny Weaver, John Lyerson, Helen Miller and Juanita Stephens from Warsaw will be among 150 Special Olympians taking part in the First Winter Special Olympics in Indiana. Competition will start Jan. 5 at the Pine Ski Lodge, Valparaiso.

    Ford Hardman, North Buffalo Street, is a popular Warsaw rural mail carrier who terminated 31 years of service Wednesday.

The retired mail carrier hasn't any particular plans for the future, he says. He and Mrs. Hardman have always been fond of travel.

    The Warsaw post office has attained the rating of first class post office for 1928 by virtue of its receipts for the past year, which exceeded $40,000.

Post offices where the receipts exceed $40,000 are classed as first class offices and thereby acquire somewhat more prestige and privileges with the postal department.
