    Riagan Linn Shell, daughter of Dana Whitt, Warsaw, was born at 1:32 p.m. Jan. 3, 1994, weighing 8 pounds, 7 ounces and measuring 20 inches. She was the first baby born at Kosciusko Community Hospital in the new year. She and her family received gift certificates from Viewpoint Restaurant and Kroger, baby gifts from Lowery's Shopping Center, a gift from KCH Auxiliary, a $25 savings bond from Great Beginnings maternity ward and a case of formula from Ross Labs.

    The National Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Affiliate 68, Warsaw, held their Christmas party at Rozella Ford on Dec.19.

Officers were installed at the party. They include: Faye Searfoss, president; Chuck Sells, vice president; Sharon Stiver, secretary; Cindy Spitler, treasurer; and Jane McGuire, historian.

    Tom Sittler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sittler, of Silver Lake, was one of 122 Valparaiso University students recognized recently at a special honors convention for scholastic achievement.

Sittler, one of Kosciusko County's finest athletes during his high school career at Silver Lake and now a member of the Valparaiso varsity basketball team, is a sophomore majoring in physical education at the Lutheran University.

    Within a few days, the newspaper you are now reading will pass its 73rd birthday anniversary.

True, The Daily Times is only 48, but The Northern Indianian (a weekly publication) had its birth in this office 73 years ago, and appeared regularly each week in addition to the daily publication until 1919, when both publications were merged as The Daily Times and Northern Indianian.
