    Two schools in the Warsaw system have been named "Four-Star Schools" for demonstrating excellence in four areas of student performance.

Eisenhower Elementary and Edgewood Middle were among 185 Indiana schools that received this honor. To be eligible, a school must rank in the top 25th percentile in attendance, mathematics proficiency, English/language arts proficiency and ISTEP scores.

    The first baby of the new year at Kosciusko Community Hospital is Cheryl Leanne Wideman. The proud parents are Lloyd and Linda Wideman, Mentone. She made her arrival at 9:19 p.m. Cheryl weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces at birth, and was 20 inches long. She was the only baby born on New Year's Day at KCH.


50 Years Ago

January 3 1956

    Sue Himes, 3-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Himes, Warsaw, won honorable mention in the Little People's Christmas coloring contest. Sue was entered in the tot's division of The Times-Union contest.


75 Years Ago

January 3 1931

    Several tons of new ice was delivered last week to consumers by the Warsaw Ice Co. The ice was especially clean and clearer than it has been in years. The ice is now seven inches thick, but thicker ice is desired for storage purposes.
