    Last week, the Times-Union published a story detailing the perils of a rural resident who found a dog dumped at his doorstep. Pete Mogenson was flooded with calls from interested pet lovers and easily gave the dog away.

It turns out the Mogenson's neighbor also found a stray dog, so Mogenson directed all of the additional calls to his neighbor, who also managed to find his stray a new home.

    Larry Ladd, son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Ladd, of 1516 E. Main St., Warsaw, was recently named to the honors list at the Western New Mexico University.

Ladd earned this recognition by having a 3.0 semester average with a course load of at least 15 hours.

January 28 1950

    Three Sidney high school cheerleaders, a little stunned by it all but happy beyond words, accepted the McKown trophy between halves of the county basketball tourney Saturday night for being selected as the outstanding set of cheerleaders during the three-day event.

Darlene Michael, Donna Winger and Rosalee Warner accepted the handsome trophy from Mrs. Donnie Engle, the former Sonya McKown, who is one of Mr. and Mrs. Fred McKown's three daughters who led yells for Warsaw during their high school days.

    Peliades, honorary organization for women at Indiana University, has recently initiated 12 students into membership. This organization is made up of the most prominent co-eds on the campus, to the number of 25. Mabel Liebrock, graduate of the Warsaw High School, was among those who were honored recently with admission to membership. Students must have been prominent in practically every form of co-ed activity on the campus to receive consideration.
