    MISHAWAKA - Three local students were among the 51 who participated in the capping recognition ceremony at Bethel College Jan. 18.

Cathleen McAfee, Bourbon, and Kenneth Bethen and Jennifer Hunsberger, both of Nappanee, completed the nursing fundamentals course and are eligible to wear the Bethel College nursing cap or chevron.

    Warsaw Community High School contestants in the American Legion speech contest were: Shari Bibler, fourth place; Deb Stroh, third place; Christie Beck, second place; and Kevin Mosher, first place.

January 28 1955

    A registered Guernsey cow, Blossom of Cherry, owned by Jack H. Beebe, Warsaw, produced 10,848 pounds of milk and 539 pounds of fat, a state record. This production represents approximately 5,117 quarts of high quality milk, according to the official Herd Improvement Registry record released by the American Guernsey Cattle Club.

January 28 1930

    Mrs. G.R.C. Rogers, recently prohibited by court order from driving an auto for a period of a year following arrest, has probably gotten more real enjoyment out of the court order than punishment.

Mrs. Rogers purchased a horse and buggy to replace her restricted auto transportation. Then weeks ago came the heaviest and snowiest winter in recent history and an old-fashioned sleigh, bells and all, replaced the buggy and has proved even more useful during the snowy weather than an auto. Moreover it does not violate the court order.
