    January 15 was Esther Burkey's last day at Kroger Supermarket, Warsaw. She started at the Warsaw store 24 years ago, and retired to spend more time with her husband.

    Marsha Strickler, Route 4, Syracuse, pledging Delta Delta Delta sorority, and Krista Widaman, 1107 Country Club Lane, Warsaw, Delta Gamma, were among 360 Indiana University coeds pledged this semester by social sororities on the I.U. Bloomington campus.

January 27 1948

    Stephen Freeman Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Freeman, of Lake Wawasee, has joined the faculty staff of Purdue University as assistant professor of electrical engineering. He is a graduate of Syracuse High School (class of 1920), has been employed with the Consumers Power Co., Jackson, Mich., prior to acceptance of an instructor's position at Purdue.

    A skunk hide, dropped in the Warsaw post office as parcel post, caused no little annoyance there yesterday. The package, from which issued sickening odors, was placed outside the building and the owner notified to come and get it.
