    The 1989 Schick Super Hoops Championships are under way at Franklin College, and Warsaw resident Shane Picklesimer is teamed up with the "Unknowns" to enter the contest.

Following campus championships, winners will advance to the Regional Super Hoops at IUPUI. Winners of the IUPUI competition will then compete at Market Square Arena for the Super Hoops Championship.

    Two Kosciusko County girls are among 80 Goshen College students spending 14 weeks of study and service in a Central American nation this winter.

They are Jeanette Suzanne Buller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter W. Buller, Burket, and Barbara Anne Weybright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Weybright, Syracuse, both spending the winter trimester in Haiti.

January 26 1949

    North Webster High School's three cheerleaders - Nancy Erwin, Phil Payne and Merritt Wagoner - Saturday night were awarded the McKown trophy after they were selected as the outstanding cheerleaders at the county basketball tournament. The McKown trophy was awarded for the first time in 1948, when it was won by the Beaver Dam yell leaders.

    Spasms of sneezing, epidemic in the lower grades of the Warsaw schools for a week, have been suppressed following an instructor's discovery that pupils were snuffing a patented washing powder. The sneezing usually was brought on when the pupils were called upon in classes and were unprepared.
