    L.N. "Pete" Thorn, who has had more than his share of honors in his 83 years, received yet another recently when he was named Kosciusko County Shrine Club "Shriner of the Year." Shrine Club President Jerry Kreger made the presentation.

January 25 1955

    Mrs. Robert Lutes and Mrs. Robert Lancaster were married in a double ceremony on Dec. 26 at the Columbia City Lutheran Church.

The brides are Roma Lee and Norma Lee, the twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Staley, of Columbia City. Mrs. and Mrs. Herman Lutes, of Nappanee, and Mrs. and Mrs. Gerald Lancaster, of South Whitley, are the parents of the bridegrooms.

January 25 1930

    "Recreo" is the name selected in the prize contest by Beebe & Baumbaugh for their new billiard parlors and lunch room and "Cue and Counter" is the slogan adopted by them.

Reed DuBois, 13, son of Dr. and Mrs. C.C. DuBois, proposed the name "Recreo" which was adopted. Mayme Cowic suggested the slogan "Cue and Counter" and divided the first prize money with Dubois.
