    Sarah Marie Lightfoot, 6-year-old daughter of David and Sharon Lightfoot, has been chosen as a state finalist in the Miss Indiana American Princess Pageant.

It will take place July 11 and 12 at the Adams Mark Hotel, Indianapolis.

    Eighteen area youngsters were honored as winners of the annual Tri-Star Basketball Contest at Grace College, sponsored by the Warsaw Optimist Club. They are Doug Gossman, John Pritcher, Robert Frush, Steve Hollor, Kristi Ker, Mike Hilton, Todd Miller, Aaron Conley, Eric Schams, Troy Reiff, Mike Dixon, Rick Blue, Mike Clay, Dale Morris, Mike Miller, Mike Ousley, Scott Long and Steve Brenneman.

January 25 1952

    First Lt. Lawrence B. Gross, Pierceton, is first pilot flying C-46 twin engine cargo planes from Japan to Korea. He reached Tokyo Dec. 27, following a 40-hour flight from Camp Stoneman, having spent Christmas in Honolulu.

Lawrence was a salesman for the Menzie Motor Sales in Warsaw before his recall to active duty May 1, 1951.

January 25 1927

    For half a century this newspaper has been going regularly into the home of Charles F. Miller, Sidney. The Times is proud to receive such letters. There are hundreds of homes in which The Times has gone continuously for from 30 to 40 years and there are several hundred homes where the half century has been exceeded. Charles Miller writes:

"This will make the 50th year that the Daily Times and Northern Indianian has found the first place in our home. Wishing you a happy and profitable new year."
