INDIANAPOLIS - Derrill D. Swick, son of Frank and Judith Swick, Burket, has been selected by the Indiana Senate to serve as a legislative intern for the majority caucus during the 1991 session of the General Assembly.
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Cadet David L. Hobbs, son of Warsaw Superintendent of Schools and Mrs. Max Hobbs, of 624 N. Lincoln St., Warsaw, has been appointed an element leader at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Earl E. Longfellow, Warsaw, was granted one of the 896 patents issued this week, according to official announcement of the United State patent office. Longfellow is the inventor of a surgical blade-plate driver and extractor. Patent examiners ruled the invention different in four respects from anything similar ever previously patented or known. The Our Town inventor filed patent application Aug. 27, 1948, and has assigned his patent rights to the DePuy Mfg. Co.
Jess Mellencamp reports the arrival at 7:30 this morning of "Andy and Min," a pair of robins occupying a maple tree in front of his house on East Center Street for several season. "Yes, indeed, I know it's 'Andy and Min,' for they commenced immediately to rebuild their old nest in the tree," said Jess.
