    Doug Knepper, a seventh-grader at Lakeview Middle School, won the school-level competition of the National Geography Bee and a chance at a $25,000 college scholarship.

    Loren and Alex Miller, owners of Miller and Sons Lumber Co., Silver Lake and Pierceton, presented Joe E. Spangle with a special engraved gold watch commemorating 25 years of continuous service with Miller and Sons. Joe and his wife, Lena, reside at Rt. 2, County Road, 200 West, Silver Lake.

    A/3c Douglas White, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne White, Winona Lake, left for the Great Falls AFB, Mont., on a new assignment. Airman White recently completed an airplane instrument course at Chanute AFB, Ill., and was home over the holidays.

January 21 1928

    Kenneth Coyle, Warsaw, student of Indiana University, was a member of the cast of the 1928 edition of "Campus Affairs," all-student musical revue staged on the campus January 11 and 12 before two enthusiastic audiences. Assembly Hall, the campus auditorium, was packed for both presentations of the annual "I.U. Follies" in which 32 principals and 60 dancing men took part.
