    Steven Thomas' use of his Moonlighter Madness card brought with it an unexpected cash flow. Thomas' name was randomly chosen among the transactions as a $100 winner in a contest sponsored by First National Bank of Warsaw for its Moonlighting customers.

January 21 1975

    Firemen from five departments battled a stubborn blaze that gutted a downtown Warsaw business building and caused damage unofficially estimated at $200,000.

The flames were detected at 1:05 a.m. at 107-111 E. Market St., owned by Nancy Hall, Warsaw. The fire was contained to the top floor of the two-story structure, but heavy water and smoke damage was reported to the ground-level businesses - Helfrich's "Too" and the Koors Insurance Agency.

January 21 1950

    It was reported today that Alden Jones, of Beaver Dam, has resigned as the Kosciusko County conservation officer and that his place will be taken by Clifford Ring, of near Silver Lake. Both are Democrats.

Ring said today that he has been notified that he will be the new conservation officer and that he expects to be called to Indianapolis next week to begin training.

January 21 1925

    The largest tree in Indiana and probably the oldest living thing in the state is the pioneer bur oak tree on the Berkey farm 4-1/2 miles northwest of Warsaw. The Berkey farm is the mecca of tree-lovers from all over Indiana.

This tree measure 31 feet in circumference, is approximately ten feet in diameter and was a big tree when the early settlers arrived here nearly one hundred years ago.
